There is a territory inside of me.
For a long time, I was conscious of it. I couldn’t help but inhabit this place. I wandered in it without any sense of direction or definition. A boundless, amorphous space where beautiful, terrifying things existed. Things I couldn’t make sense of, but to which I was sensitive to.
As a child, it felt like walking in the dark void. Pitch black, and terrifying.
I’ve known this terror so intimately.
It propelled me to seek.
All that got my attention — the self-help books I read as a child, Hideaki Anno, yoga, mysticism, spirituality, studying psychology, getting a Masters, and then a Ph.D., my clinical work — were like sources of light that followed me on my path and allowed me to see.
The psyche is an expansive territory. But it’s not intangible.

Map of the Psyche is the materialization of my many years of observations of the psyche — from the perspective of an academic, a clinical psychologist, and a long traveler of the inner world.
It’s — well. A map.
Here, I give form, words, and structure to the territory of the psyche. I document its dimensions, its rules, its systems, its inhabitants, how it thrives and deteriorates.
Some pieces are short observations. Some are answers to questions travelers before you have asked. Some are exercises, ways of testing what you're learning against your own life.
Instead of reading it linearly, this is a map to wander in. Explore it by dimension, by whatever calls to you that day — the way you like to travel.
Map of the Psyche is for the inner traveler who has a deep desire to concretely understand their own psyche, how it works, how it translates in their relationships and in the structure of the world.
It’s for those who are familiar with deep inner work & who are not afraid, quite opposite, who are obstinate, courageous, and curious about the nature of their own inner world and that of others.
